It was the media that made a big deal out of the face-slapping incident with Patton that almost cost him his job back then.
"It was the media that made a big deal out of the face-slapping incident with Patton that almost cost him his job back then."
Sure was, but it was a much tamer, less dominant media back then, and that was my point.
Today the story would be kept "hot" for months, the ACLU would get involved, the CIC and the SOD would be constantly badgered at every news conference by the TraitorMediaWeasels and......well you know the rest.
We are in desperate need of a full-scale, national, TRULY conservative television channel.
I thought the alternative conservative media(internet, radio) was enough, and it may be one day, but not yet. Television still dominates.
Dream on. Until you stand at the top of the hill and plant your flag you have won nothing and you can't win anything. History is full of examples where militaries have bombed the F out of an enemy and when the smoke cleared they simply come out from cover and dusted themselves off. Not to say you can't have a great impact, but strategic air power simply supports the efforts of the ground forces.
You probably should explain this.....
Your post was partially incoherent.
Needs to be said again.........

Gates, a self-aggrandizing pencil-pushing bureaucrat, is incapable of effectively moving transformation forward. It takes a tough, clear-thinking great leader like Rumsfeld to do that and also handle the WOT.
I agree with everything you've stated. I thought we learned from the Vietnam war, and militarily we did. But we did not learn MEDIA wise how to counter communist, or now, islamofascist, propoganda. I truly do like George Bush and I think he's been a good president. But I also think he's too nice for the job. I want a blood and guts fighter, and I want a president to stand up to the media. I thought he was going that way with Tony Snow, but he hasn't called out the media yet. Too bad.
