Evangelicals that turned out to vote for the marriage amendment made the difference in the senate race.

Even Ford Jr. knew better than to come out against the amendment--he said he supported it. It would be interesting to know how he actually voted in the privacy of the voting booth.

Why did they elect a RAT governor with 70% of the vote?

As to Pubs campaigning toward the last two weeks: wasn't that the Rove idea for the national Party??? Pubs never had a chance since they refused to communicate their policies say, a year or so before election time. Dems have been on campaign for 2 years. Pubs must do the same or lose the propaganda war forever. That is why we need new Congressional leadership.

Bryson was seriously underfunded compared to Bredesen. He probably thought that he did the best he could with his available resources, and I can't disagree.

Very good idea, I'll bet these amendments tend to make people think their vote counts for something specific, a different feeling than voting for a rep who one can disagree with on many things, and agree with on others.

Well that Governor does not effect me, just like in MI we still have a Dem gov with a high unemployment rate, and the AA amendment passed.

Weird.

I've heard gay democrats say "I wish all the states that are going to ban gay marriage would just do it so Republicans can stop bleating about it at election time." Pretty soon we're gonna run out of states and need to find a new issue :P.

LOL, as if Republicans woke up one morning and decided to pick a fight with gays.

As with most of these social issues, the left started the fight, the right is just responding.

I think I'll be moving when the husband retires. Michigan is getting too crowded with moon bats.

Welcome to Tennessee, Gods country.

Probably put Corker in, amazingly after given the Dem Bredensen the biggest re-election margin in state history. Bryson (R) didn't start ads until two weeks before.

Exactly. It was a sham. It was like he wasn't serious about winning. Bredesen never did anything controversial, and he is a nice guy, so no news about him. Everybody was content so they just voted for him again. Actually, most democrats in Tennessee are more conservative than the Republicans in the blue states. Of course they change when they get to Washington D.C. Like Algore.

Tennessee is a perfectly beautiful state! And its politics is tolerable, certainly compared to most.

Thats true. Have you heard they are throwing Bredesens name around for a possible presidential run in 08?

The Chattanooga area is the second most beautiful part of the state. The Great Smoky Mountains in the east are the first. Bob Corker got alot of votes from the Chattanooga area. He was their mayor.

Phil has been doing a good job. His endorsement of the lying two-faced Harold Ford democrap was a disappointment though. Harold tried to pretend he gave a hoot what Jesus thought of him, but we in TN saw him for what he really is, a typical lying democrat who will tow the party line as he's told if he gets to the Senate.

He is a conservative democrat. He shares Tennessees values. He is a good governor even though he is a democrat. He reworked the public healthcare system here that threatened to bankrupt the state. He also reformed the Workmans Comp laws which were driving companies out of business. That made him very popular with Republicans. Aso he is very likeable.

That was Dick Morris's strategy for Clinton. Attack early and keep the pressure on. He started ads when the Congress was in recess in the late summer.

I did not think Allen needed a better reason than having a certifiable pornographer filth novelist opposing him. Evidentially Virginia is o k with this kind of filth leading them in the Senate.

Exactly! Jr. was sleazy and everyone saw through him. He was in Congress, too, so more in the news than local politicians. People knew he was a flaming liberal. And the corruption of his family is well known in Tennessee. The acorn don't fall too far from the tree.
