What is 'indie'?

Independent, as in not a major studio. Less restraints, more creative, lower funding, sometimes odd subject matter.

An indie is an independent movie -- not associated with a studio -- usually low budget, but not always. If they "hit" they are highly profitable, i.e. Blair Witch Project. Mostly they are crap.
