Where in the world did you come up with 60? I have said repeatedly the turnout was 20% for each party. I am pi$$ed at the terrible 20% republican turnout. The article just stated the total turnout was 40.4%.
(20 each..ok?)
Good grief. Move on...
Jackv,
You are so positive of your math that you feel comfortable being rude to Freepers who are trying to help you see the facts. Did you have a public school education, or are you just math illiterate.
No matter how many people vote the number of votes is 100% of that particular race.
If 49% vote for a Republican and 50% vote for a Democrat and 1% vote for "other" ---100% is the total.
Now if the total number of voters who cast a ballot for that race is 40% of the total number of registered voters, it does not mean that 80% of Republican voters stayed home, it means that 60% of Republican voters stayed home.
You are trying to have us believe that Democrats won races by 80% to 20% margins, because you are confusing two sets of numbers =
1) total registration
2) ballots cast
Think of it this way - if 80% of Republicans stayed home, then 80% of Democrats turned out to vote - according to your logic. Yon have to see that that is not possible, when races are being decided by very narrow margins.
