Agreed. He should be a part of a new face for Republican leadership. Head of the RNC is one of those positions.
Cabinet for HUD??? Does not sound like leadership position to me and it's a demotion on the part of Rove to want to stick him there. If Steele goes there we will never hear about him again.

You are right about Newt being part of the resuscitation of the Republicans. That is what makes me so mad at him for not behaving himself.
Betrayal of a spouse is tantamount to murder IMHO.

I think Steele is an excellent choice for RNC Chair.

Is there anyway that we can retrive this jewel.
I would like to have a hard copy for down the road!!!

I had thought of Steele as a possible presidential candidate. Wouldn't putting him in charge of the RNC take him out of that race?
Unless of course some in the establishment *want* him out of the presidential race...
To: raccoonradio
If he takes it, maybe the DNC will counter by offering its chairmanship to the Hrrrevvverrund JACKsnnnnnn No way. The Democrats like to keep their minorities at the back of the bus. Chairman of the DNC is too much of a high position... better off something like HHS Secretary, Surgeon General, or Secretary of Commerce.

We need someone with balls! And Steele has them. No more of this nicey-nicey stuff. Our sworn enemies play to the death and so should we.
To: StoneWall Brigade
This is a PR/people job and I don't think Santorum's cut out for it. RS should be in line for a nice appt through 08, and by then there'll be something even better waiting for him.

Mehlman was purging any opposition to illegal immigration--ex. Graf. He's outlived his usefulness.

Graf could have taken Kolbe's seat if the RNC had not pulled the funding at the very beginning, they didn't want a closed border candidate and refused to support him. These are the things that didn't endear Mehlman to me. I agree. The RNC screwed Graf and other several other candidates, and then wonder why they lost control of Congress.

I liked what I saw and heard of Mr. Steele.
Particularly in that he was very articulate and could get his views across in a likable manner that I haven't seen since Ronald Reagan.

I don't know enough about Steele to be for or against, but I do know he's told the WaPo to "Eat it". So far, he's A-OK in my book.

Look i'd rather have Rick or Delay but I respect there choice
I love Micheal Steele but I wish they would give the job to Delay. Talk about in their face! LOL
To: beckysueb
Delay is certainly a good idea--wonder what Delay's plans are?

My sentiments exactly. I don't see Condi as VP but I see Steele as being an excellent choice for VP. The question is - who can win the Republican primary?

Can he ever run for Congress again?
