What aggravated me is that the pubby US State Rep running for re-election kept calling the demonRAT opposition a tax-spend person? And he was. Yet, when the pubby person was in the state house prior to winning the US State Rep position, the pubby voted to raise our taxes for the general budget and the transportation budget. It was like the "pot calling the kettle black." Hypocrisy!
That's exactly what my goobernor did -- called the opponent a tax and spend liberal after passing nay, ramming through the biggest tax increase in Texas history in a time of surplus. He won. With 39%.
The Republicans lost their compass, overspending and earmarking and handing out goodies like ... well ... like Democrats. That is not what we elect Republicans to do.
Hopefully this mid-term drubbing will be a wake-up call. The next two years are going to be nasty, but let's see if the GOP learns anything in time for 2008.
If they do, this election could be a blessing in disguise.
