Uhh, just to clarify.....this nomination goes to the existing Senate in the "lame duck" sesion between now and the end of the year, right? So it will be the current cast of characters, not the new one?

I assume since Bolton was a recess appointment, the appointment expires at the end of this Congress?

"Even if lame duck session, how do we get around a filibuster?"

Nuclear option, if the Repubs show some backbone. "Wishful thinking"

Poor McCain .. he's losing his gang
I can't wait till the primaries and he loses that too!

In the 2008 primary we can replace Lispy Graham too.

Yes, let's get rid of the RINO's 1 by 1 and rebuild this party.

They've been on break for two years. They counted on incumbency and pork to protect them. They counted wrong.

Exactly!

Bush had every intention of spending his political capital, and on something that was truly important to the country.

It was the RINOs in Congress who wilted before Democratic criticism.

If the Senate refuses to vote on the Bolton Nomination, the United Nations Ambassador position should be left VACANT until they do.

And this would change things at the UN how?

What you said about Social Security is something that has had me angry for YEARS..

President Bush was proposing a very GOOD alternative plan to the status quo, on Soc. Sec...but, it was HIS PARTY that booed him off the stage.

I haven't forgotten that...and as angry and sad as I am over the Dems winning the Majority..it is things like THAT, that make me have that little part of me that is curious to see if any of the Congresscritters that survived do any introspection...to find out what THEY did to cause this.

Don't forget Trent Lott....he was a "behind the scenes" participant in the Gang of 14....

Soooooo...HE is to blame as well....and he has had it in for Bush since he lost his job as Majority Leader...

If Bolton has any sense, he would tell them all to take this job and shove it. Let the Dem's find the person they want.

In fact, it might be better if the entire Republican party leadership resigned, including the President and let the Dem's run the whole show.

When they were not in control of
Congress we gave them the kitchen and bath. From what I have heard so far, we will now give them the entire house, yard, driveway and who knows what else.

Precisely. Twisting the Democrats into knots is a good thing.
