I have no problem with lying for reasons of national security. However in general I think it's bad for the president to lie about political matters.

That is not the issue. Reporters may ask anything, it is the responsibility of the official to exercise judgement. Watch out for accepting false premises.

She needs to read her history books. FDR lied to the American people in November 1940 to win his 3rd term of office. I just sent her an e-mail reminding of this fact.
