Remember the power of America is the individual, not the politicians..

That is one of the truest thing I have read over the past couple of days. We are Conservatives. We aren't the people who wait on the rooftops waiting for the helicopters to rescue us. We are the people who stayed in a convention center with no water, toilets or electricity. We are Conservatives. We stand tall, survey what lay ahead and get to the job at hand. We are Conservatives.

The recent election is just one obstacle on our path to success, not a wall to stop us. We are Conservatives.

Now the President can get his immigration reform passed. The irony.

Yes. I wish I thought President Bush would think harder about why his enemies want amnesty for illegals, but I know he's doing what he honestly believes to be right. I deeply respect his moral courage and strength of character--we couldn't have a better wartime president--but I believe he's just dead wrong on this issue.

Allen was never the guy. He was a great guy, a good man, good conservative principles, but he was kind of a lightweight. He would have been a good VP.

Santorum is a stronger person -- I'm not saying he should be the one either, just that he's a solid man with a firm grasp of the issues.

It has to be a fiscal conservative (McCain is mostly a fiscal conservative, and he's been trashed, but there are others out there as well -- McCain is also a pretty good social conservative, I know he's got problems, don't we all).

If we don't find someone strong to be with though, it's going to be Rudy Gulliani, and I will vote for him in the General Election.

We need to win social issues by educating the public, not by the government dictating to people how they should live. Don't get me wrong, there are things government needs to "meddle" with, to protect the country, and certainly abortion is NOT a libertarian issue, because PEOPLE are being KILLED (otherwise government WOULD have nothing to say on the matter).

But there's a reason the "stop-gulliani" crowd disbanded, and half of them are supporting him. I think we should at least listen to them, and figure out what they are saying, before we simply throw him out because he's not "socially acceptable".

All your problems are Bush's fault! Comes the dawn!

That attitude is no better than those at DU.

Romney seems to be the only one who gets it so far as conservatism is concerned.

I live in SOCAL. I have 2 little girls. I am looking for a place to relocate. I am very concerned for their future.

Thanks to Bush.

Thanks to Bush? What about the liberal state and local reps ya'll keep voting in? SOCAL was ruined well before Bush took office.

But, you should move from SOCAL, because a storm is coming. But the storm will not be caused by President Bush. It will happen because of the liberal-socialists and terrorists appeasers..of which there are plenty in your neck of the woods.

thought you would like this post that I read last night on the Ann Coulter thread....

She consistently worked her (extremely) little butt off to ensure that conservatives were PO'd and unwilling to vote for Republicans in the general election, and thus ensured the election of Democrats, and she did this solely to boost her sales.
First of all, I'd guess that the "Internet gaming" ban probably had more to do with Republicans' losses than Ann Coulter. So would you accuse the ban's sponsors of treason?

Secondly, Ms. Coulter's statements tied in with a paradoxical conundrum illustrated by The Maltese Falcon. The villain is threatening to kill Humphrey Bogart's character if he doesn't tell them where the Falcon is. Bogey points out that if he dies, so does the secret of the Falcon. The villain suggests to Bogey that while that's true, he doesn't always behave rationally (and thus the threat is still real).

Conservatives want their congresscritters to actually behave like conservatives. They threaten to withhold support if they don't. The congresscritters contemptuously threaten that if they're unelected the conservatives will suffer, so it would be irrational for the conservatives to carry through with that threat; they thus feel they can ignore the conservatives.

What would be nice would be if we could show the Republicans that we were willing to withhold support if they go too far left, without our actually having do so. Unfortunately, that isn't possible. Our apparent unwillingness in the past to act against left-leaning Republicans has made them oblivious to any such threats.

IMHO, the major goal of many people stirring up conservative discontent was to try to convince Republicans in Congress that they needed to acknowledge their base. Had the Republicans done so, conservatives would have rewarded them with support and everyone on the right would have benefited.

Oh well--too late now.

"veto the other guys spending then it is to veto your guys spending"

Shouldn't have non-Federal spending on the budget to veto,

in the first place.

All I could do was hope to elect those who,

would slow the 'inflows'.

But regardless, this over-the-top anger and screaming from both sides has got to stop

How wonderfully moderate of you. However, as usual it is nonsense. You are upset by the over the top anger and screaming? Talk to the Democrats that is ALL they have done for 4 years.

Bush and our guys have NOT done any of it. It is unjust to compare the more over the top talk show hosts to the conduct of the Democrat Political Leadership

Bolton would blow their minds. Funny!

Romney is another good choice. Don't know all of his views, but from what I have seen he is well spoken and has good executive experience.

I wonder how having to govern such a leftist state has forced him to "moderate" his beliefs?
