Kristol is gleeful because he is a McCain handmaiden, and believes, along with much of the conventional MSM wisdom, that McCain is now best-positioned to be the GOP nominee for president in 2008.
Take a good look at McCain the next time you see him on TV; he's not going to be running for anything.
