As Representative Nancy Pelosi faced the cameras Wednesday morning, after the Democrats had taken a majority in the House and put her on the brink of becoming the first female speaker, she spoke so softly at first that some reporters insisted they could not hear her.
“I’m not in charge of the technical arrangements,” Ms. Pelosi said quietly, fiddling with the microphone.
Then suddenly, she was commanding: “But I could use my mother-of-five voice!”
It is a line Ms. Pelosi uses often, and a voice she may have to rely on frequently as she tries to ensure that the new Democratic majority lasts more than two years.
As speaker, she would be second in line to the presidency — the closest a woman in elective office has come to the White House. And while she has been a leader in Congress for years, and the target of Republican attacks, many Americans still do not know who she is. Her new job places her on a more visible stage, with much greater stakes.
Ms. Pelosi, 66, who has been a San Francisco congresswoman for 20 years, became minority leader and then guided her caucus to victory by enforcing remarkable party discipline. She curbed the demands of those who share her often-caricatured liberal values, while making a place for the party’s conservatives, for whom San Francisco is sometimes as distant as the moon.

Uh, no.
The response to that should be..."At least Madame Speaker, we now know you did something to someone five times that you are trying now to do to all of us!" I'll bet you a nickel to a donut that crap would stop really quick.
I say great. I think it is wonderful that the D's are going to use someone with an approval rating lower than W's as their primary spokesman.
Hey, hey, what about minority rights?
This is mindless. It's like me saying "My service in the Air Force qualifies me to be an Astronaut."
If you want to see a Repub win in '08, pray that Nancy and Co. go for broke with their moonbat policies.
I think alot of people assume that southern Democrats are going to sit there and let her get out of control. I find it amazing that she has made it this far...with them not abandoning her...so when the vote comes up for her....lets see how southerners look upon her now.
Americans are gonna get a good dose of these moonbats the next few years. They will come running back to republicans.

Thanks for the ping!
Miz Pelosi = Hillary's understudy
Well .. I hope they do their little "talks" in a private room - and then we'll see who walks out and who's left on the floor with a slit throat!
These appeasers have no idea who or what they're dealing with.
They already know how to defeat us - USE THE MEDIA!
This should be an interesting next two years. If anything should force the various Conservatives and Republicans and Libertarians to re-form a winning coalition this would be it. When America as a whole realizes that the farthest left you can possibly get has just taken over to represent them, they will be in for a shock.
