Bush eyes Democrats for help on amnesty
The Washington Times ^ | November 9, 2006 | Stephen Dinan

President Bush yesterday said he will team up with Democrats to pass an immigration bill with a guest-worker program that his own party blocked this year, and his Republican opponents predicted a bloody intraparty fight but said they cannot stop such a bill from passing.

"We will fight it, we will lose. It will go to the Senate, it will pass. The president will sign it. And it will happen quickly because that's one thing they know they can pass," said Rep. Tom Tancredo, Colorado Republican and chairman of the House Immigration Reform Caucus, who had led the opposition to a guest-worker plan. "I am absolutely horrified by this prospect, but I have to face reality."

Mr. Bush supported a bipartisan majority in the Senate this year that passed a broad immigration bill including a new worker program and citizenship rights for millions of illegal aliens. But House Republicans blocked those efforts, calling them an amnesty, and instead forced through a bill to erect nearly 700 miles of fencing along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Perhaps some pre-emptive impeachment proceding against Bush for not abiding by his oath of office is called for.

I'm done with President Bush. His first job as President is to follow the Constitutional requirements as laid out by our Founding Fathers. His personal beliefs regarding illegal aliens is not the question. The question is, "as President does he, or does he not, follow the Rule of Law as laid out in our Constitution". The answer is no, and anyone who can't see this has their head up a very dark place.

We are in this mess because people decided to sit out this election over this issue......so they forfeited that right to bitch now.

That won't stop them. It's a conspiracy. Bush's plan all along. I'm telling ya, this bunch will blame anyone but themselves.

It's being reported that the Pubs lost the Hiapanic vote this time because of the illegal immigration issue. Our local Mexican activist here in Phoenix (Elias Bermudez) was on the news last night whinning and crying about how unfair and disrespectful the "wall" is to the Mexican immigrants (he did not use the word "illegal"). So, I guess the will of the legal majority will be superceded by what is politically correct. I, for one, will never cast a vote for any politician who supports shamnesty.

Amnesty is SUCH a bad idea.

Nothing like rewarding those who are good at Hide N Seek.

The gay lobby has shown that the way to get something considered unthinkable done, is to talk and chatter incessantly as though it was a fait accompli. Before that, liberals at least tried to put on a fair show of arguing that their pet cause was a good idea. This airheadedness will kill America.
