"With many voters angry at Bush and the Republican leadership in Congress, Democrats were winning the vote among several groups that have usually been very closely contested -- independents, moderates, the middle class and suburban women, according to exit polls."
Medved reported that the Christian Conservative vote was very strong, but secular Conservative was not as strong. I believe most of the base was there. We did not do a very good job appealing to the independants and moderates who put their wet finger in the air before voting.
