One way Democrats can assert themselves is by spoiling the prospects for renewal of President Bush's tax cuts, said Kevin Hassett, the director of economic policy studies at the American Enterprise Institute and an adviser to President Bush's 2004 re-election campaign.

I talk to people at work and they don't even know they are paying less taxes to the feds. They all think the tax cuts went to the rich. When I ask them their effective tax rate and whether it's gone up or down over the last three years they give me this stupid look.

I told my lib friend to go an ask his boss for a pay cut. If you won't go and ask for one, why would you vote yourself one?
Eyeball Pelosi said that they may want to return to the tax levels of Clinton.

They may not have noticed that their federal income tax rate had gone down, but I guarantee they'll notice when it goes back up.

It's the ones with kids that really surprise me.
Anyone who can write off $1,000 per kid off the final bill ought to understand what is at stake.
We have a large family and hardly pay any taxes, and we don't qualify as "rich" by any means.

I figure it pays in the end...as these little ones will be paying more than their fair share someday supporting those living on social security.
