Yep, I'm just a huge Jim Webb fan.
Barring some amazing development it looks he won.
I was initially supporting Allen for POTUS in 2008, but he just did everything possible to lose this race. It should have been a formality. Allen choked and it cost us the Senate.
Well it sure would be interesting if Webb's lawyers/goons tried to block overseas military ballots from being counted.
Last thing we need now is defeatist attitudes that let improperly counted votes stand and take away control of the Senate.
That's just crazy. The Senate is organized.
The same people are there until January when the new ones come in.
After there's an official count he should concede if it's not real close.
If it's real close, heck go for it. Go all the way.
There is no recount in Virginia any more. They have switched to paperless machines for the most part. Therefore the recount is just verifying the printout from the machine.
There aren't hanging chads, or anything like that. Allen barely lost. There aren't 7,000 votes out there for him.
So why would he concede before all the votes were counted? That would be a really stupid thing to do. I support his waiting for the votes 100%. That's what democracy is.
We are talking about Senator Allen's job AND the future of our country. I think we can cut him some slack and hang in there a few more weeks while we find out who we REALLY (and fairly) elected.
Also remember when about a dozen newspapers sent dozens of people to florida to recount all the Gore/Bush votes? Suddenly they have no interest in a recount or voter fraud.
The senate organizes around staff which is planned and recruited well in advance of January.

I hope Geoerge Allen sticks with it. He knows his state and he has reason to want a recount.

You have put your finger on the problem. Hugh Hewitt is spending his entire show figuring out how to put the pubbie party together again. (Arranging deck chairs). The die is cast. Our remaining allies read the tea leaves and it is time to stake out cozy positions with our enemies (China, Russia, and Iran).. This is a watershed moment. We are more alone than ever with a public that does not mind wearing a burqua and having their female parts removed. The only thing that would wake us now is losing a city. If 9/11 could not steele us for a few years, I don't know what disaster would bring us to our senses. There is blood in the water.
