Oh what joy. The Neo Isolationists of Bush 1 are back. We just surrender the War on Islamic Facism.
Probably not the worst thing that could happen, and I like Rummy.
Since the next two years will be nothing but being hauled in front of House Committees headed by Weasel Waxman and Jihad Conyers, we need someone who can be dedicated full time to prosecuting the war.

If what I just wrote made you sad or angry,
it was probably just a joke.
I am suddenly thinking of starting a Burqua franchise store as our 'chattel' will need appropriate clothing soon.
Political sacrifice.
Expect more.
I hope this isn't happening.
Rats.
But I see that the powers that be still have one of 'the good old boys' to step in.
Liberals must be having wet dreams today! How joyous this is for them!! This is better than Earth Day and United Nations Day combined. Oh joy!
Take a break people...ever hear of Simon Cameron? He might have done a good job running the peacetime military, but Rummy was undistinguished as a wartime SECDEF! He needed to fall on the sword for the good of the country...I just wish he'd done it back in 2000; perhaps today wouldn't have been so bleak!
I was on another thread and was told not to critize, it was some kind of Rumsfeld love fest. Is this the same deal?
I think Rumsfeld did a decent job, but he's a mere mortal. Will anyone tell me mistakes weren't made in Iraq? Most serious challenges are not met without mistakes. I think the lack of communication of the progress in Iraq and Rumsfeld's strong favortism of technology over infantry cost him. I wish him a good life. I hope the country recognizes his contribution, and that Mr. Rumsfeld is satisfied with his work. But I am one who think it was time for him to go. (In fact, it's about 2 months too late).
"Both those men (Cheney and Rumsfeld) are doing fantastic jobs and I strongly support them."
--Gee W. Bush, seven days ago
Hahahahahaha. This has to be a JOKE. He couldn't make this move a month ago? 2 Weeks ago? No, he does it the day AFTER they loose their power. Hahahahahaha
He should have done this 2 immediately after the last (2004) election. Doing it now makes the whole administration look bad. Is Condi next?
The prez should keep Rummy around. He's a good man. Maybe he could alternate press briefings with Tony Snow. That would be a blast!
Great move... now the Dems will be on our side when it comes to voting on Social Security Reform and the Fair Tax.
Anyways, it doesn't bode well for a vast number of things. W's word is now in the toilet, and a lot of allies will see that. Furthermore, our military will now be dubious of any orders they get...as they can expect to be the fall guys for the failure of the President's policy. And they can also expect to get no help or defense if they are prosecuted for some damn war crime that the jihadists or the Communists hoax up...and the RATs demand Hearings and Impeachment of the President over...
Tell me this is an editorial.
Otherwise, it should be Rumsfeld, architect of a wildly successful war in Iraq....
I think Rumsfeld resigned on his own. He got up every day and worked as hard as he could for his country, and everyday he was called a war criminal. That's bad enough, but when the people you are protecting go out and vote for the vermin who are calling you a war criminal, that's too much. I would say let someone else have the job, the same as he did.
Maybe Bush needs to step down and we stick these liberals with Cheney...wouldn't that be fun?
hillary: "Mr. Gates, being Secretary of Defense is very important, but the major issue here is as follows: what is your stand on abortion?"
feinstian: "Mr. Gates, do you believe every woman has the right to choose whether she wants to abort her baby?"
schummer: "Mr. Gates, I have not yet decided whether I will vote to confirm you. Therefore, I want to ask you a simple question. It doesn't really mean anything (snicker, snicker, snicker), but what do you think about abortion?"
