Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, a key target of Iraq war critics, gave no indication Wednesday that he planned to step down in the wake of Democratic midterm election gains, his chief spokesman said.
Eric Ruff, the Pentagon press secretary, said he participated in meetings with Rumsfeld on Wednesday morning and heard no talk of changing war strategies or of Rumsfeld leaving his post.

LOL, see, the MSM/DNC runs this country, and Conservatives caved to them last nite, and gave up Rumsfeld.

If Rummy is stepping down....Bush made a deal with Pelosi...
To: jmc1969
Rummy wouldn't be resigning without the nod from Bush.
I'm disappointed. An auspicious beginning of the next 2 years by Bush.

He can't leave fast enough. In my view, Bush's promise three days ago that Rumsfeld would stay to the end of his Administration cost us the Senate. To the man who most resembles Robert McNamara, Go!

Uhm....someone point out to my why Bush would get off the horse NOW!
Doesn't this take whatever credibility Bush had and flush it?
This looks like total surrender to the Dem's.

Rumsfeld stepping down. If that's true, then I'm leaving the Republican party. They just can't seem to get out of their own stupidity.

Yea, and I would like to see McPain take his place.

If Rumsfeld resigns then it will just play into the hands of the socialist-demos who will make plenty of political hay out of it by saying, "see we told you that the GOP leadership has put us into a quagmire in Iraq without an exit plan." This resignation will just help convince them that they were right. It makes me sick. America is in for dark days ahead.

Absolutely. My brother is a "war planner" at a Special Operations base, and said Rummy gets all the credit for the high tech used in this war

Good Lord, I feel compelled to go home and hang my American Flag upside down. This is not good.
It's as if I just had lunch with Chamberlain in 1938 Europe.

This says a lot about the GOP leadership. They are reacting to yesterday badly. Even more justification for cleaning house at the top.
