One last time to defend the No Child Left Behind initiative.

Have seen the result in a family friend's daughter. Attending an inner city non performing school. She got the report that the school was put on the 'list'. She has been able to transfer her little girl into a well performing school. The competition for students will eventually force schools to perform better or lost fed funds that closes them down.

If you think that educating the least of us is not worthy spending, then so be it.

My children went to private schools and we didn't worry about their education. Poor inner city parents have neither the funds nor the educational background to see that their children are better educated. Can we care enough to help?

Why not do the same thing (lists, tests, etc.) at the state and local level?

Why does the federal government have to do it?

That's the real issue with the education spending.
