When the Republican party starts realizing that the libertarian part of the 'base' is just as potentially solid and deserves a place at the table as much as the Judeo-Christian culture warriors they might do a little bit better. 'Government' and 'morality' have nothing to do with each other.

Libertarians (albeit moderate ones) were kicked out last night. If that trend continues, the GOP may as well cement a longer term minority status. We need the moderate libertarians.

Problem is the religious branch of the part won't tolerate anyone who is libertarian. Just seems that way to me. If you say you are for embryonic stem cell research on this forum you are flamed within an inch of your life. I think this really hurt us at the polls.

Says who? You? Do you have any Constitutional authority for that statement?

'Government' and 'morality' have nothing to do with each other. That's the stupidest post I've read for quite some time. Government pass laws. Laws are what society/voters consider right/wrong/moral/just. Government and Morality are impossible to separate.

You might want to read Washington's farewell address.

Haven't you been reading libertarian threads ? The social right controls 75% of the country and we aren't needed.....

Hopefully, yesterday's clue-by-four to the skull will lead to that realization. If so, they may recover a bit in 2008. If not... well, the Federalists are no more, the Whigs are no more, and there is no law of history that prevents the Republicans from following in their footsteps.
