Conservatives need to see this as an opportunity, NOT a disaster. The Moderates ran our party and ran it on the rocks. OK, just like in 1976 and 1992 time for the Conservatives to take back their party.
To start with NEW Congress, NEW Leadership. Time for a hard charging no nonsense leadership in the US Senate and US House.
Time for the Republican Insurgency to teach the Democrats what a REAL quagmire looks like. They wanted it. They lied to the American people about their real agenda to get it. Let them enjoy their Phyrric victory in 2006.
They won most races by a few thousands votes. Let them go home in 2008 and try to defend their record of voting for Ms Nancy and Hillary Clinton's Big Socialist Agenda after running as Republican Lite in 2006.

MNJohnnie, I completely agree.
Well said.

Zackly! You pegged it.
When Clinton won in 92 it energized the conservative base.
But it is harder for the American people to see the villains as the the Dem Congress when a Rep is in the White House.
The real battle in the next two years will be for spin control over the coming disasters.

They won most races by a few thousands votes. Bush won florida in 2000 by less than 1000
Today, Heather Wilson, Tiberi, Pryce, and Schmidt, all republican incumbents all won by less than a few thousand and we are lucky we got those.

We lost a battle and a painful one but you are right this is not the end of the war by no means. Yes indeed let us take this as a great opportunity to rebuild our party on conservative principles get new vibrant leadership for the GOP and we will win in the future. Lets stop debating our differences and fight anew concerning our commonalities... I also think our troops in the field will get wind of this as we pursue our rebirth and it will help give them hope as well. Thanks again DN.

None of that foolishness would happen if "true conservatives" consistantly stayed home on election day during the primaries, then pitch fits and threaten to leave the party during the summer and have to suffer with RINO's and moonbat leftist's in November. Want to affect change? Stop punishing the party at every turn with this abhorrent and inherent self-centeredness.
