Pardon me if I don't join your celebration.

I'm not "celebrating" as you put it...I've JUST always felt Rumsfeld was way over his head as a wartime SECDEF and, like McNamara before him, just could not rise to the occasion...HOWEVER as a previous poster pointed out, Rumsfeld did good job in rebuilding the military handed to him by the Clintons and he did a pretty good job preparing it to enter the 21st Century when he was Ford's choice way back in the 70s. But, I think you'll admit if you really search the logic God gave you he was a lightening rod for everything that went wrong in Iraq...and things such as autopenned letters of condolences to loved ones of the one or two fallen soldiers each day, when hand-written ones are called for, didn't exactly endear him to the public. Neither did the "go to war with the Army you have" comment to a soldier concerned about vehicle armor to protect himself and his buddies in the midst of IEDs exploding around the battlefield!

It would be best if they step down too.
