Please clarify that statement.

RINO = Republican in Name Only. ....iow, not a conservative. Often a centrist. A party over principle type.

Country Club Pubbie = a Republican who's a comfortable member of the establishment and usually holds socially liberal/moderate and fiscally moderate/conservative views.

Just an expression, and certainly no offense to Republicans who actually belong to country clubs.

The "country club" types I know are successfull businessmen who employ people, belive in free enterprise, capitalism and no taxes. They are the most Conservative people I know. And they are staunch Republicans.

It sounds like you stereotype sucess with as RINOs just as Kerry besmirches our military.

Goes back at least to the 60s. You had your Country Club Republicans and then you had your Cloth Coat Republicans. Richard Nixon once rather famously remarked that his wife Pat wore a cloth coat.
