Bush was handed BOTH houses of Congress solid conservative majoritiees and chances are he will leave office with both gone and may have given the Dems a hand up in the next presidential election. It wouldn't be the first time a Bush gave the presidency away to a Clinton.

No he wasn't. In 2000 the Senate split 50-50 until Jim Jeffords Jumped. In 2002 and 2004 the Republicans GAINED Senate seats. Yes, we lost up to six yesterday -- but don't forget Reagan lost eight in 1986.

Also, if you actually believe that there were ever 51 conservative Senators the past two years then you must not have been paying attention here when many posters screamed about the dozen or so "RINOs". You think the Maine gals, Chafee, Specter, Hagel, McCain, Dewine, Voinovich etc. are conservative? Were you not paying attention during the Bolton hearings and the judicial nominations?
