If they weren't so extreme maybe two years would be palitable... but they are extreme and will play us like a violin to try and take the WH in 2008.
We took a beating for a lot of reasons
History was against us and there was little chance of gains and a good chance of taking a beating as we did.
At least 5 House seats lost due to idiot candidates. (Delay, Foley, Ney, Sweeney, and I know I am forgetting one)
Lost the Ohio senate seat most likely due to Bob Taft and his corruption. DeWine did not help himself by going RINO but I think Taft screwed every statewide Republican running.
More at risk Republican Senate seats were up this time then at risk Democrat seats.
We ran crappy candidates (Harris in Florida, Taylor in TX-17, Burns in MT, etc.) in states and districts we should have won.
All in all, we took far less of a beating this history says we should have.
