"I also think this was a sign when a lot of GOP members were afraid to touch Social Security when Bush tried to make it an issue."

The beating we took over Social Security reform should have told us all what was coming.
Rhetoric matters far more than substance when you're dealing with a Media society, and the vast majority of them are not on your side.

There was no single idea, no "Slogan" that we could get behind, tell our friends about, and push forward in a way that the sheeple would understand.

Instead, we were ALWAYS on the Defensive, as the Lib/Dems, Communists, and thier willing allies in the media, pushed slgan and lie, after slogan and lie down our throats...

This is significant. Republicans are not loyal.

We and the Republicans should have supported Bush's social security reform. We had the votes.

The Mier nomination was the same way. Bush was not supported.

It is fairly ridiculous to observe how regularly freepers and others attack Bush while we observe perfect loyal obedience on the other side to the most idiotic positions on the left.

Republicans and paleo conservatives attack President Bush and drove down his numbers right along with the democrats. There is not doubt about it.

Precisely. Bush just stood there waiting. He thought it would be Congress doing the work instead of making proposals that could be debated.

And without leadership no one would step up even with 60-65% of the voters wanting to control more of their money.

If conservatives won't fight for their ideas then forget it. Already tonight we are seeing the return of the ridiculous concept of "moderates" even though the Dems are far, far, far to the left.

Geez, they are going to start talking about amending the Constitution for Arnold again since he won and the "moderate" template will prevail.

The war on terror is over and the focus will shift back to the crap during the Bush 41 campaign: minimum wage, cable bills, Americans with Disabilities, etc.

Mush issues.
