We kept saying that polls don't matter, but for some reason they were correct this election

There's a difference between realizing polls aren't perfectly accurate, and proclaiming them all worthless all the time (particularly only doing so when they don't tell you what you want to hear.)

If anything positive comes out of tonight, maybe it will be people learning how to objectively analyze and predict outcomes while distancing themselves from simply always seeing what they hope to see.

Yep - well stated. While this site can be a powerful force for good, it can also at times become an echo chamber. That's clearly what happened in the weeks leading up to this election; we refused to see the data that was presented to us.
