That is because the voters that care about the issue stayed home because they were disgusted with both parties. Unfortunately, those that care about immigration were voters that republicans needed.

Sure, but they're also not using the exit polling data, because it's unreliable. So we can't draw a conclusion about immigration from the exit polling either.
I just can't stand how cheery Brit is ... what has happened to him? I think something else is on the horizon for him .. like some other job or venture.
