I am of the opinion that Liberalism and Democrats destroyed manufacturing in America through inane policy...

But the Standardized Shipping Container is what made it POSSIBLE...

Load one up in a Central Chinese province, roll it to a flatcar, that rolls down a 120MPH Railway to the coast, put it on a big boat with 2,000 other containers, and unload it at your local Walmart in 3 short weeks without ever having another human hand touch the stuff...

The efficiency of transport is what makes outsourcing POSSIBLE, but Leftist policy is what makes it PROFITABLE...

Come on people. They didn't inact the fairness doctrine in 1993-1994 and they're not going to do it now.

How much of the loss for Blackwell is due to 2004? and Kerry claiming Blackwell gave the election to Bush?

"And tonite just reinforces the fear of the average Iraqi (AND Afghani) that we will simply abandon them to thier fate..."

The average American really doesn't care about the fate of the average Iraqi or Afghani, especially when their fate is in their own hands. They certainly don't care enough to sacrifice thousands of young soldiers and hundreds of billions of dollars to teach barbarians a civic lesson. Bush doesn't (or at least didn't) understand this. The bastard Rove doesn't seem to have a clue. Because of this most Americans don't like President Bush and don't think he's doing a good job. This dislike has spread to a dislike of Republicans in general, a dislike enhanced by corruption and scandal. American voters have just sent a message. The future success of the Republican Party depends on whether they get the message and do something about it.

Yes, the MSM is still very powerful and ignoring it because they are "dinosaurs" is stupid.
No, professional pollsters are not idiots. Denigrating what they are telling us, because we don't want to hear, is folly.

Yes, If you really believe that the continued invasion of our country by illegal aliens is in the national interest, you better have some awfully good reasons that will convince the obviously skeptical.

Yes, part of the Presidents job is explaining to the American public just what you're doing and why. If you can't do this you can't lead.

And yes, we are all in this together. Demonizing fellow Americans because they don't agree with you only loses any chance of persuasion to your views and weakens our society.

Tomorrow is the first day of our fight back to leadership. Lessons from our latest knockdown abound. It's up to us to learn the lessons and apply them to our struggle so we will be victorious in the battles ahead.

Let's roll!

Am not going to copout and just claim the Perfect Storm as an excuse, but there was indeed an element of that. Control of everything will still be up for grabs in 2 years.

Only if the party runs for election. If we try this non-campaign again, I think I'd rather stay home.

Come on . . . just ridiculous. Do you really think the Democrats will use the "Fairness Doctrine" to kill conservative talk radio? Do you really think that would serve them?

WTF?

Webb is shown on CNN's website with 1,167,694 votes to Allen's 1,155,950. I thought there was less than 3,000 votes separating them.

"Any predictions for how Rush will begin his program tomorrow?"

With humility but also with a zest to begin the fight for '08. You know, like the rest of us should.

Again, as reported by the MSN, since none of us has any other source of info about the war. Except, we do know that our troops as well as Iraqis are generally surprised at the distance between what is "reported" and what they have directly experienced.

No, this was a flat out victory for the media who proved that they could deliver the vote given enough reach and repetition.

And they did, RI, PA, OH, MO, VA, MT, NJ, MD. Amazing really, no one saw that coming to that extent. That's an inside straight! All types of candidates, all parts of the country. Awful.

I agree but I think that we had lots of notice on this from the polls that we ignored. I think that in 2008 we listen to the polls (regardless where they come from) and do something to ensure a change in the polls. I can't believe that we let this get this bad especially since we were told over and over again. I know that FREEPERS hate polls because of previous elections, but obviously they were true this time. I am pretty sick to my stomach over this.

I am going to say something uncharitable: those people in Missouri must be pretty damned stupid to vote out someone as literally talented as Jim Talent. What idiots.

There is zero evidence that this election had anything to do with a rejection of the pro-life position or an endorsement of homosexual marriage ... or anything else related to social conservative priorities

Except getting their asses kicked from one end of the country to the other.

For the past six months all we got was a bunch of BS about queers...flag burning...internet gambling ...

tax reform...tort reform...vouchers...entitlement reform....funding for a fence...no...no..no just lame sops for the social right......

It varies widely from state to state, but in the case of MD, MD has a crappy website that is updated slowly and the news organizations websites were literally hours ahead of it all night.

Also, even assuming the MD state website was the most updated one, from the results currently posted, to someone that actually knows anything about MD looking at, it's clear Steele lost, bigtime. Why?

No results posted from Montgomery and Prince George's Counties. As I've said again and again, MD is very weird in that it has a bunch of very rural counties with low populations that are very Republican and then a couple of counties and a big city that have huge populations and are very Democratic.
