Remember, our republic works. We have checks and balances, and the American people tend to like the government split. I think it is healthy (from time to time) to have a legislature opposing the executive. If the judiciary worked as it were supposed to, we would be in great shape. BUT IT DOES NOT. THIS IS WHY WE REQUIRE STRICT CONSTRUCTIONALISTS AND NEED TO HOLD THE SENATE. Let's assume for the moment that we keep the senate, replace a lib associate justice with a conservative -- a bullet proof court! What a great thing?
As for the house -- so what? GRIDLOCK! Vetoes, perhaps government shutdown with funding fights -- we know historically the president has the bully pulpit. And maybe, now, we will get back to our principles.
When we run on our issues instead of to protect our power, we WIN.
The 2008 campaing starts tomorrow. If we hold the Senate, get a 6-3 SOLID conservatice supreme court, I predice 2008 will have democrat backlash -- look at how Pelosi will play in the middle US -- and have a very good 2008-2014 politically.
Yes, the house will flip, but not by a lot. So what -- let's get back to the basics. Yes, I prefer the majority, but now let's return in 2008 a REAL, CONSERVATIVE majority.
The south has PROVEN itself pubbie tonight, the midwest will continue to see-saw. I think we are OK.
You make some good points. If we lose tonight, we have nothing else to lose. We can start working to get good conservatives in.
Heck no, but he may just stick it to the democrats every now and then more than he used to. He knows they're not his "buddies" now.
How many precincts?
Marshall and Barrow have both pulled into narrow leads.
I am an idiot right now. Looked at that one all wrong. :P
He really owes us and he was sucking up to the unions, etc.
How many of us were GENUINELY excited about our choice tonight? Not a lot. The status quo was clearly moderate. What happens if we should, instead, get conservatives back? We will be excited to go to the polls. Very important, indeed!
Simmons underperformed in Groton, the sub builders gave him 6% less than last time. Not good.

Pryce is going to another nailbiter, a surprising one, though.
Thank you!
Are those 2 GA house seats we have a shot to win dem pick ups?

Webb will mostly likely contest it if Allen wins.
Simmons up by 23 votes with 50% of the precincts in. I gotta go do some push ups, reduce the adrenaline level.
When the voters say conservative - they mean it. Conservativeness ALWAYS wins, and wins big.
Looks like this election will be good news for pollsters. They all basically were right about the direction of this election, and in basically all the races individually. No real surprises.
Rove you magnificent bastard !?
Yes, he is. But Lieberman lost favor with the dems because he is FOR the WOT. He understands the Terrorist threat.
For me, at least, that is what the election is about. Its not about power-hungry dems, its about power hungry socialists, those that would sell out this country. I don't believe liberman falls to that level.
On another note:
If the dems take it, and the WOT comes to these shores, whose head do you think will come off first? You think Al queda will let pelosi run around shooting her mouth off? You think AQ wants her let loose without A BURKA?
If The Dems win, it's a sadder day for them than us, because they will not have seen it coming.
