If early indications in Maryland and GOP rumblings can be believed, it looks like the GOP will hold on to the U.S. Senate thanks to the election of Michael Steele to the United States Senate.
Several top Republicans in DC are quietly saying they expect Michael Steele to win and Georgia House District 12 to flip to the GOP.
I will be voting for Steele, Ehrlich and John White right after hockey practice!! I'm hoping it will be a good night... but with the record number of absentee votes out there (usually good for the GOP) it might take a few days.
No, it's the heavily black district from Augusta to Savannah that Max Burns won in 2002 but lost to John Barrow in 2004; the GOP legislature redistricted last year and the district no longer includes Barrow's home base in Athens.
No. GA-12 is Eastern Georgia, including, I believe, Augusta -- but excluding Savannah and the coast.
Steele for President!

Voted at 8 AM this morning. Got one son up to go with me, other went around 1 PM, Hubby voting after work tonight. Four Ehrlich and Steele votes from this Shore Family!
The biggest surprise will be when we find out just how well Steele did among black voters. I believe he hits the 50% mark...black voters did not want to tell any pollsters that they were voting for him, and the failure to sense this may well be the death of polling as we know it today...BTW..Erlich wins also...
Happy to oblige. :-)
Not to be a party pooper, but how can they POSSIBLY know this before a single vote has been counted?

Let's not be taken as liberals. Let's wait to make predictions until after the votes are counted, recounted, contested in law suits, appointed to cadidates and confirmed.
....That's all I am saying...
We're here in Indiana, but we sure like Michael Steele and what he has to say....we're pulling for him and a long Steele victory celebration tonight!
C'monnnnn Steele! EAT IT, WAPO!
You bet. He'd be a good role model for African American children. They may learn that they don't need the democrats to hold their hands 24 hours a day just to get around.
Already voted via absentee ballot.

...I'm with you! HOW, HOW, HOW!!!
The exit polling folks from the media pool went into their sealed vaults about 2 hours ago, so it is possible that something got out.
Just voted in central Anne Arundel County - red territory.
I was told that the morning rush was crushing, and it's been busy, with a short wait, all day so far. I only had to wait a minute or two, but actually, it is the first time I've ever had to wait to vote since moving to this precinct in 2001. It was busier today when I went than in 2004.
Very good turnout for a mid-term election, so far.
