While this story indicates there was a singular reason for his animosity in this case, I cannot help but wonder if this man had committed rape before.
Either never reported or never solved.

I hope that the police match his DNA to other unsolved crimes, and circulate his picture for other women to come forward if this wasn't his first attempt at the crime of rape.

It is truly sad how many women are raped and NEVER come forward. I thank some of TV crime shows for helping to change that statistic, as they show the victim how caring the nurses and detectives can actually be toward their pain.

L&O, SVU comes to mind. It's also very helpful in that it educated women in a round-about-way how to avoid rape, how to deal with it when it happens and what to do afterwards.
