You naively believe that the exact nature of your anger is communicated and understood as such. It is not. The fringes of "conservativism", from the point of view of the media and most political leaders of both parties do not merit discussion, and the nuance of why different conservatives may be "angry" is either not acknowledged, misunderstood or ignored.

Oh, believe me, the president got a message...I saw his news conference and it is apparent!

He did not get "your" message. Your message was parsed by the media and by his own people into the simple collection of votes in favor of Dims, on the positions of the Dims, not on your positions.

That is how it will be played by the media and that is how the political alignment in Washington will play it. Your individual protest was not a distinction with any difference, and therefore it lost any particular value you intended it to have. It will be have the same value, by everyone in Washington D.C., as a vote for Nancy Pelosi; no matter what you wanted it to say. The reality of how your vote was and will be read, is in the result, not in your motivations. The only thing you told Bush was that you want Nacy Pelosi and her agenda to lead the Congress.
