Are libertarians for borders and national sovereignty? That's a major issue that conservatives and libertarians could unite on.
There's the rub. Some feel that without all the welfare/free medical care for illegals, that only those truly willing to come here and be Americans would be the ones wanting to come here.
A LOT of us, mostly self described "l"ibertarians, see an open border as an open invitation to groups like Al Queda to attack us. It's a "tresspassing" issue in large part as well. If all the land along the border was privately owned, land owners would be within their Rights to repel invaders with deadly force.
National sovereignty is big. Kicking out the UN is a hot button issue and a priority if we'd remain a free country.
The Libertarian Party is flaky on those issues, but almost all of the libertarians on FR are strong supporters of both. Other issues libertarians and conservatives can unite on are...
Another poster on this thread is arguing that people like me have no place in the conservative movement. I'm trying to make the case that in these times, we need to work together united against the Democrats. If you don't mind my asking, which of us do you agree with?
