Full-face ... lawyer dressed in veil like this one

Trial halted over lawyer's veil By JOHN SCOTT November 07, 2006
AN immigration tribunal was halted yesterday after a lawyer twice refused a judges request to remove her veil. Shabnam Mughal was dressed from head to foot in black with a full-face veil leaving just her eyes visible. Miss Mughal was acting for Sikh businessman Jagdev Singh in his appeal against the Home Offices refusal to grant his nephew permission to visit the UK. She was asked to remove the veil by tribunal chairman George Glossop during the hearing in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs. She declined and the case was adjourned to the afternoon. When it reconvened the judge had to ask Miss Mughal who is in her twenties to repeat herself after asking how she spelt her name. He continued: I am not very happy that you are appearing in a veil. Would you kindly remove it to assist with communications? It will allow me to see your face and I cannot hear you as well as I would like. She replied: Sir, we have been through this issue. Miss Mughal later announced: Sir, I am taking my leave. The lawyer came back into the courtroom as Judge Glossop spoke to Mr Singh. He asked: Do you wish to carry on? She retorted: No, I just want to listen to what is being said. The judge continued: If you remove your veil, which happens in other cases, we can proceed, otherwise I am going to have consultations with the President of the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal. Will you remove it? Miss Mughal countered: You are clearly aware of my position on the grounds of my religious beliefs. I wont. Sir Henry Hodge, head of the Asylum and Immigration Tribunals, will rule on the next move. |

I actually have a burkha, one of the blue Afghani-style ones, received as a gift after doing some troop support. It is the most dehumanizing and oppressive thing you can imagine. It gave me the most incredible feeling of outrage - I wanted to kill all the Taliban with baseball bats, because shooting them would be too quick. I'm really happy to have it as a reminder of what our soldiers freed them from.
- THANK YOU so very much for helping the troops...you are truly an Angel and you are most likely making far more of a positive difference in the war effort than you may admit..May God Bless you and may you have a beautiful, long and carefree life.
- Re "I wanted to kill all the Taliban with baseball bats, because shooting them would be too quick." I can hardly imagine how the Afghani women must feel...they had to wear those things their entire lives. Many probably never knew any different and so they didn't feel your understandable outrage, but now that they have been freed I'm guessing that they feel much as you do, if not even angrier, as they have been deprived of education and most of the rest of Life that the rest of us all take for granted.
- Re "I'm really happy to have it as a reminder of what our soldiers freed them from." What a magnificently poignant and touching sentiment.
- If you can bring yourself to put it on for just a moment and have your picture taken in it, posting that picture as well as your feelings about it on your Free Republic page would be a wonderful thing to do that many would find inspiring.

It just looks like a blue sack with feet. I do have pictures - I brought it in to work and had a co-worker shoot a couple against the whitewall. The IT director came out of his office and was utterly floored (good for an extra giggle, he doesn't get that way often). I don't know how to put pictures on my homepage. Don't I have to sign up for Photobucket or something?

Has anyone else experienced this??I would have the identical reaction as you because followers of Islam have gone out of their way to make everyone on Earth understand that they are following the Religion of Death.
It's not "Islamophobic" to be concerned as to whether the burkha-clad gnome approaching you has a bomb belt under her / his garb, it is the natural human instinct of survival that you are feeling.

This event is probably one of many that bears watching. In England, like other European countries mired in multiculturalism, it is Islam versus a weak, impotent government, too stuck in its moral relativism, lack of religious conviction and belief in diversity to realize what its failed policies have wrought.

Yes, or Image Shack or any of several other photo hosting sites, many of which are free.

It's very heartening to hear that somewhere, someone is making a stand against this insanity.I'm not sure how much of a stand is being taken in this matter, at least at this point. It appears that her refusal to remove the veil caused the entire proceedings to grind to a halt, and the matter will be ruled on at some future date. Nobody did anything particularly heroic, they were simply unable to continue.

Who is the Muslim kook/welfare bum who is directing her actions???

I am gravely concerned, however, that in the case of Great Britain, things will need to get far worse before there is the public and political will to make necessary changes in policy. I fear that at that point it will be too late.

Who is the Muslim kook/welfare bum who is directing her actions??? Most likely in a a local mosque that hosts the local al-queda cell tea party every Thursday in the basement.

Masks are considered false faces and offensive.
We do not wear a mask in Western Society. Muslims are in the West so they need to conform.

... and belief in diversity to realize what its failed policies have wrought. Diversity and political correctness have the same intention as the use of victims, like Michael J. Fox, Cindy Sheehan, the Jersey girls, Christopher Reeves, etc., does. It is intended to silence dissent and opposition to their cause. They speak but we can't reply because it wouldn't be nice.
They use our values and freedoms to overthrow our values and freedom, and they usually get us to pay for it by using our government schools, programs, grants, and courts/judges. We pay them to destroy us. Otherwise they couldn't afford it.
