You're right of course, Jesus did speak against fornication. He also spoke against divorce, but most Protestants and Evangelicals no longer understand that teaching to be binding on Christians. (Catholics of course do.)
There is actually a lot of speculation that Herman Melville was in fact gay. So Moby may have that "gay gene" swimming around in his gene pool.
Seriously, wishing for a gay child is like hoping for a child who is blind or crippled.
Then again, Moby would probably want a child who has some kind of genetic disease so that he can appear in TV ads telling people that the Republican meanies are causing this condition because they don't want to shell out corporate welfare to biotech companies for worthless embryonic stem-cell research.
He's not gay?
Kinda like that other great political thinker / social scientist Johnny Depp; who stated that he would give his children any illegal drugs or alcoholic beverages that they ask for, so that they will be able to judge for themselves if they want to go through life impaired or sober.
I had always heard that `Moby Dick' was a social disease.
(Flameproof suit donned)
He also spoke of not abolishing the law, but fulfilling it. It is an interesting topic. Obviously, Jesus did not desire us to ignore the law. He desired that we keep the law, but he cleansed us for our shortcomings. Can a person live in a lifestyle of sin and still go to heaven? Not my call.
If you ever had a sighting of Moby on the streets of New York City, as I have, you would want to do everything in your power to discourage him from "raising a family"/ the guy is clueless. He thinks diet determines your political consciousness.
Yes; however, doesn't Jesus also indicate to his followers to "Defend thyself?" There are times in life when hating is damned good: i.e.: hating Satan is at the top of that list.
Yeah, right.
"I ask this because Christ, at least in the New Testament that I have, never mentioned homosexuality, so we thus don't know what Christ might have thought about homosexuality. Why is the church so up in arms about an issue that Christ never seemed to have mentioned? And why does the church so routinely gloss over so many of the issues that Christ actually did talk about? It just makes no sense to me."
Moby, I don't know which New Testament you have, but take a look at this:
Romans 1 - 22Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.
24Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creatorwho is forever praised. Amen.
26Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
28Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
The question we have to ask ourselves now is... Exactly how long have the libs known that soy milk causes homosexuality?
""I ask this because Christ, at least in the New Testament that I have, never mentioned homosexuality, so we thus don't know what Christ might have thought..."
Can we put this lie to rest? Christ followed the law His Father put forth. Homosexuality practice is anathema.
Maybe Moby IS a d!ck!
