DEMOCRATS SEND CEASE-AND-DESIST LETTER TO REPUBLICAN CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEE OVER AUTOMATED PHONE CALLS TO VOTERS
This link to a video of President Bush today is the best ever. He is on fire.

I'm jealous that you heard from Laura and W. I didn't. :(
We've been getting lawn signs stolen or destroyed for years. Luckily, the signs for my congresswoman (Sue Kelly) haven't been defaced this go-around, but the Bush signs in 2000/2004 and Lazio signs back in 2000 had an average life expectancy of about 2 days.
"and I'm a registered Libertarian."
So is Laura Bush. ;^D
Odd. The ONLY automated phone calls I have gotten have been from my stupid Dem governor. And of course, it is full of half truths and distortions.
I have recieved 3 automated Political calls and one non-automated polictical call in the last 2 days. All them were from the democrats. None from the republicans.
I got a hilarious call from Ben Stein in California yesterday for Arnold. He asked a question, then said "anyone? anyone?"
Nobody calls me, and I'm listed.
I pity the first librat that does, though. I'll get a chance to tell them about my bumperstickers.
This is part of the Repub response.....the Dems do this themselves, apparently:
"In Fact, with respect to telephone disclaimers, we have simply copied what you own national committee does. I have a recording of a pre-recorded phone message from DNC counsel Joe Sandler which contains the same sorts of disclaimers (including placement) as NRCC calls. Maybe you ought to send a letter to the DNC as well?"
Dems are such liars.
This seems to be a big deal for the Duckworth-Roskam race.
Does anybody have any latest polling data on that race in Illinois?
It was looking really bad for Roskam for awhile, with Duckworth ahead 10 points or more after other polls showing Roskam ahead.
Anything new?
Let the Democrats talk all they want to you; ask them questions. Pretend you're interested. All that time spent with you is less time trying to brainwash someone else. :)
No kidding. I hung up on at least a half-dozen automated political calls just yesterday.
I had an e-mail from the GOP about an hour ago telling me where I vote and giving the directions. Of course, I have voted there for 33 years and it is about two minutes from my home.
I suppose they are so smart these days that they know how forgetful I am. Either that, or they are military.
I had a few choice words for the Clinton recording today. Too bad he couldn't hear me!
The Dems need to cease and desist the disgusting commercial I just saw, featuring Iraq veterans blaming the world's ills on Iraq, and finished with Weasely Clark at his crazy-eyed best saying there were more terrorists because of Iraq.
Stop Illegal Robocalling!: Democrats Send Cease and Desist Letter to Republicans
November 06, 2006 6:07 PM
ABC News' Ellen Davis Reports: Bob Bauer, General Counsel for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee sent a cease and desist letter to Don McGahn, General Counsel of the National Republican Campaign Committee requesting a stop to what he alleges is an illegal form of random calling of voter's residences using recorded political messages, often known as 'Robo-calling'.
The letter states: "The NRCC calls do no identify at the outset, and as required, that they are sponsored by the NRCC. These calls do no contain a telephone number. This failure to comply with the law denies callers effective sponsorship information. Without the benefit of a number, they are also unable to request that they not be called again. And we have received reports that individuals have been contacted multiple times by your prerecorded calls, despite their continued refusal to accept the calls."
Don McGahn, Council for the Republicans responded in this letter: "Thank you for your press release. Per your request, this is to let you know that there is no need for the NRCC to, in your words, bring its actitivities into compliance with Federal law, because NRCC acitivities are already in compliance with Federal Law.
In Fact, with respect to telephone disclaimers, we have simply copied what you own national committee does. I have a recording of a pre-recorded phone message from DNC counsel Joe Sandler which contains the same sorts of disclaimers (including placement) as NRCC calls. Maybe you ought to send a letter to the DNC as well?"
When asked about the letter, NRCC communications director Carl Forti said "we comply with all federal laws and regulations regarding political phone calls."
NRCC Communicatiosn director Carl Forti, in a separate conversation with ABC News's David Chalian, he said that they have made no phone calls past 8 PM, which suggests he realizes that would constitute a violation.

Out-FReeping-standing. I recommend this for post of the day.
:snickers:
Desperate last ditch play Dems.
I just watched it, too. They showed a young guy with an amputated arm. Pretty low.
