:-} I don't think the country is shifting at all. The country is center right. But just by a little. IOW's, politically speaking the generic ballot should always be about 45-45 with 10% who can't or won't find their asses with both hands.
Pollsters who have dems leading by 20 points a month ago and now closing to 4 or 6 are :
A) Either practicing voodoo polling without a license or
B) Have an agenda.
Time and Newsweak definitely have agendas. Up until 4 years ago I didn't think Gallup had an agenda but then they assigned all non committed voters to Kerry just on a whim to build momentum for Kerry. Zogby, I know, has an agenda and his MO is to push poll during the runup to an election and then do some good statistical work in the last couple of days.
Mason Dixon thus far seems not to have an agenda which is why I pay attention to their polling.
I can agree, but I also think there are moderates who are seeing how absolutely ridiculous the Democrats are. Kerry was an October surprise that'll prove invaluable.
They won't make it very far down my street. They're welcome to try though.
'The liberals I'm running into on the net appear to be getting angrier by the hour'
take a look at some of the articles on RealClearPolitics - angrier AND more crazed.
I wouldn;t want to meet up with some of them in the dark for the next few days.
And Andy Rooney tonite - really worked up because the President (among other but I think he is the one who really gets to good old Andy) has the gall to wear an American flag pin on his lapel.
Wanted to send him an email to suggest he might find something to talk about that someone cared about - but I know that's a waste of time.
I think the margins in both are going to be very tight though.
Yup. The numbers will tighten up until the races are finally called. Closest one when the results are in wins (just like any other 2-bit "psychic").
He said the voters were getting buyer's remorse about the Democrats before the sale was completed>>>>>>
God I wish I would have thought of that line...what a keeper
Did anyone see Barone on Hannity tonight...I tuned in too late and missed him.....if anybody watched could you tell me what he said?
With one more day to go, it's safe to say that polls and punditry mean nothing now. It is time to COWBOY-UP and go VOTE for all the R's you see on the ballot. Only the final count matters and we have to show up! I and SWMBO already voted early in Tejas. So - to those in OHIO, PENNSYLVANIA, MARYLAND, VIRGINA, MISSOURI, RHODE ISLAND, MONTANA, WASHINGTON, MICHIGAN, TENNESSEE, and eveywhere else - GO TEAM GO! To those in Indiana, Iowa, Arizona, Georgia, New York, Connecticut - It's up to y'all to help us hold the HOUSE.
Show the MSM and these pollsters how stupid they are and that we will not be demoralized into staying home. Show tha RAT party that their days are numbered! Let's watch 'em all put wastebaskets on their heads!
Pingaroonie
Still, it's good news. After 2000, 2002, 2004 when, every time, we were told it was hopeless for the GOP, an admission that there is a "momentum change" is probably closer to reality.
Brainwashed Dem college kids know how to hit the online polls from the same computer again and again by deleting cookies on their PC.
Of course they've been doctoring the polls.
But the discontent was and is real amongst many Republicans -- real, loyal, broken-glass Republicans.
It's just that the realization is sinking in that:
a. The GOP is more likely to be able to bring the war to the most favorable conclusion possible under the circumstances
b. Having Nancy Pelosi as Speaker is utterly distasteful, and even though the GOP has been spending like drunken sailors, it won't get better under her and her Dems
c. Losing the Senate we worked so hard to gain control of would be disastrous for future judicial nominations.
No-brainer, once Republicans paused from their busy work and family lives long enough to think it through.
Nancy Pelosi has already come out on the record and said that a Democratic victory is virtually assured and that the only thing she is worried about is the possibility (based on what, I don't know) that all the votes won't be counted. In other words, she's already laying out the foundation for all kinds of elaborate conspiracy theories if things don't go their way on election day.
These people are irresponsible, anti-American, power-hungry marxists. They cheat their tails off in elections, and then shamelessly cry foul when it's not enough.
VOTE!!!
Yep. Let's finish winning the War on Terror first. Then we'll sort out our smaller differences.
Everything is moving the Republicans' way. I hve been predicting for a while that the Republicans keep control of both houses of Congress, and I'm comfortable standing on that prediction, though I think both houses will be narrow.
Note that the Democrats are already complaining about Republican voter suppression and threatening lawsuits.
That's what they usually do when they think they're going to lose.
I think it's one of three things that move in the GOP's direction.
First was the Kerry insult to our troops. Then this morning, Saddam's verdict, which reminds us of why we went to Iraq and of teh good things that have been accomplished there. Then this afternoon, Latin American presidents issued a statement complaining about our border wall. That reminds the public which party is tougher on the borders (though not nearly as tough as it should be, but that is a discussion wwe can resume on Wednesday.)
A bit of a Blue Trickle, maybe. Loss of s couple of Senate seats and a few House seats is likely. But a change of control looks less and less likely.
