The way that government leaks today, I doubt they could get away with it for too long.

Whatever happened with the Harry Reid debacle? It seems that one was swept under the rug.

"Operation Tennessee Waltz was a sting operation set up by federal and state law enforcement agents, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. The operation led to the arrest of seven Tennessee state lawmakers and two men identified as "bagmen" in the indictment on the morning of May 26, 2005 on bribery charges. The FBI and TBI followed these arrests with an additional arrest of two county commissioners, one from Hamilton County, and the other a member of the prominent Hooks family, of Memphis. Investigators also arrested a former county administrator.

Those arrested are as follows:

State Senator John Ford, of Memphis,
State Senator Kathryn Bowers, of Memphis
Former State Senator Roscoe Dixon, of Memphis
State Senator Ward Crutchfield, of Chattanooga
State Representative Chris Newton, of Benton Sentenced to 1 year in prison in early 2006.
Barry Myers, of Memphis
Hamilton County school board member and lobbyist Charles Love, of Chattanooga
Hamilton County County Commissioner member William Cotton of Chattanooga. On May 2, 2006, he was sentenced to 3 years in prison, 3 years probation, as well as fined 9,500 dollars.
Shelby County Former County Administrator Calvin Williams of Memphis
Shelby County County Commissioner member Michael Hooks, Sr. of Memphis
Michael Hooks, Jr. of Memphis
Ford, Bowers, Cotton, Dixon, Hooks, and Crutchfield are all Democrats; Newton and Williams are Republicans.

The name of the operation comes from the state song of Tennessee, "Tennessee Waltz"."

It's a start ;-) I just hope they keep going.

No need to go "undercover"...the DUmocrats commit crimes right in the open and go unpunished.

I sense some higher-ups at the FBI, getting a bit
nervous over a Congressional demand that the
the Bureau come forward and brief the Hill about
the Anthrax Investigation. Senator Grassley and
others from Finance Committees have some difficult
questions to ask about the investigation and the
answers may by awkward for the Bureau to give.

There has been a standoff of sorts between these
governmental entities over this investigation.
The Congress claims it has been left in the dark
about the progress of this case and the Bureau
claims it does not update the legislators about
active cases. This because of a history of
Congressional leaks.

Grassley recently sent the FBI a scathing letter
demanding the Bureau respond to a list of questions
by 11/21/06. Many of the questions were worded in
ways that made them sound more like accusations
than inquiries.

The Congress has placed the Bureau on notice and now
the FBI fires a warning shot of its' own across the
Congress' bow....JJ61
