Iraq urges calm ahead of Saddam verdict

SNIP
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Iraq's prime minister on Saturday urged his countrymen to accept the impending verdict against Saddam Hussein without violence, then in the next breath declared the former dictator must get "what he deserves" with the decision that could send him to the gallows.
They call it the Bible Belt. For a reason.
Yeah baby!!! Ping me with any info. Stay safe! Oh, and by the way, Give Kristinn a hug, if you are lucky enough to get to greet him.
I wouldn't be so sure of that.
The appeals process in Iraq is different from that back home.
The Iraqis want this over with. They feel that it's a roadblock, preventing them from moving forward more quickly.
Shia and Sunni alike want the guy to HANG.
Hmmmm. Maybe a public stoning. Now THAT would be poetic justice.
That's what you're playing for, isn't it? #1 draft choice, lol?
And you're asking *me* about Quinn? I'm more afraid it'll be *my* A.D. (Sooner RB Adrian Peterson's nickname).
I know I'm not the only one who has waited a long time for this moment. When I think of all of our military men and women, including our own son, who went into battle to topple Saddam and his regime, I can only hold out hope that justice will be served, and Saddam and his cohorts will be executed for their crimes against humanity and the world.
God bless each and every one of our military men and women who are serving right now. Not only in Iraq, but Afghanistan, S. Korea, and every other spot on the globe where tonight they are standing watch....for all of us.
That kind of thing has been going around in this area (Chicago suburbs) for over a month. I've had it now for a couple of weeks and am trying to lick it too. Seems I only have enough energy to sit here at the computer and post at FR (wink, wink).
I wonder if a more "creative" solution could be taken:
regardless of the verdict ( of course it will most likely be a death sentence) Saddam's continued existence as a living breathing "human" should be exploited to whatever POSITIVE effect can be squeezed from it. It should be make clear to his "supporters" ( primarily Sunnis?) that unless they forswear terroristic violence against ANYONE in Iraq, Saddam will be swiftly executed. The moment any act of terroristic violence can be traced to them, Saddam will DIE.
I think we and the new Iraqi government could live up to our end of the bargain. Do you think the Sunnis could?
God.
Hi Allegra! I think of you often and have kept you in my prayers. Be safe, missy! :)
Thanks - same to your DH. During the day, I'm better, but nighttime tends to bring it back a bit. Maybe a couple more days and it'll be gone.
LOL, I always laugh about "productive" coughs, but not this time! *C'mon, Mr. Mucus, step it up there, the conveyor belt is backing up with too many chocolate candies ... move faster, be more productive, meet your quota! You, too, Lucy!*
Yuppers, myself, too. Hmmm, Chicago flu in Texas? Ya think?
There's some nasty stuff making the rounds up here in the Seattle/Tacoma area. I've STILL got a cough after three weeks, and now my wife has it.
Fox News says it is limited to 30 days.
I'm definitely going to keep my head down today. The courthouse is not far from me at all.
Somebody have South Park cartoon on this thread
Stay safe Allergra
Can you see it? Will they send out smoke signals?
