They aren't bets. And they are never "off". And W has shown no sign he will use force - he remains committed to Rice's useless diplomatic approach. Neither the Russians nor the Chinese have seen the slightest consequence for their clear hostility over both Iran and North Korea. W does not believe he has the political capital for anything like it now. The country is probably going to take away whatever mandate he had left in about 3 days time, by handing the Dems the house.

Iran has gauged our weaknesses accurately and it is winning. I don't have to like it, I don't. But I can see it and I face it. Half our problem is that nobody else will.
