U.S. Sen. Barack Obama expressed regret late Friday for his 2005 land purchase from now-indicted political fundraiser Antoin Tony Rezko in a deal that enlarged the senators yard.
I consider this a mistake on my part and I regret it, Obama told the Chicago Sun-Times in an exclusive and revealing question-and-answer exchange about the transaction.
In June 2005, Obama and Rezko purchased adjoining parcels in Kenwood. The states junior senator paid $1.65 million for a Georgian revival mansion, while Rezko paid $625,000 for the adjacent, undeveloped lot. Both closed on their properties on the same day.
Last January, aiming to increase the size of his sideyard, Obama paid Rezko $104,500 for a strip of his land.

I doubt this will have any effect on Obama's political future. People (well liberal people, anyway) love the guy and will rationalize whatever implication there may be. Besides, it seems like a clean deal from what we've been told, just a deal with a bad actor.
I sure hope you are right about Rezko sinking the latest crooked governor of IL however!
Gee, I thought it was Osama Obama.
:)
If Oprah has her way.
Considering Hillarys cankles, them would be some BIG socks!
Barack is the chosen one... Cant wait to see what dirt the other Dems will sling during those primaries.
He's not Muslim. He's United Church of Christ.
We're talking RATS here. Get real. Their transgressions are completely overlooked. I do not believe for one moment he will ever pay for this.
What am I not getting here?
That is what I keep telling people. This guys name will doom his chances before he ever gets started. He will never even be a nominee, much less a final candidate for president.
No kidding!
No kidding ? I'm from IL and I never heard his middle name once. Go figure.
Thanks for letting that out.

Now how can he afford that on a Senator's salary?
He received a lots of contributions from "the little people"?
What Freepers who don't follow Illinois politics don't understand is TONY REZKO. He was the current governors money man, raising untold $$$$ for his election coffers. THe federal pay for play investigation has snared him and other big time Chicago democrat politically connected people. The dominoes are starting to fall and just this scandal is growing by the day. Senator Obama's relationship with Rezko will no doubt be under a microscope by the feds, and Fitzgerald has been excellent in turning over rocks and finding wrongdoing. Obama should be worried, very worried, and his even associating with Rezko after in was COMMON knowledge that he was under investigation leads me to believe Mr. Harvard Law Review President is not as smart as he thinks.
It surely is his middle name.
OIC, thank you for explaining.
Y'think Barack Hussein Obama will be whining that Rezko molested him years ago?
Obama sailed to victory over a non existent GOP opponent, unless you count Keyes which I don't. Obama is no political powerhouse.
This 'thinking' about running is the same scam to ramp up book sales that Colin Powell used prior to the 2000 election.
Hard to imagine.
