BRUSSELS, Nov 3 (Reuters) - Russia is against an imposed solution for Kosovo because any decision must be acceptable to all parties to work, Moscow's foreign minister said on Friday.
"It can only be a compromise, it has to be a decision which is acceptable to all parties," Sergei Lavrov told a news conference after talks with the European Union in Brussels.
An imposed top-down decision in the breakaway Serbia province would "just simply fall apart" and there was no point in taking a decision that would not be adhered to, he said.
The United Nations, which has run Kosovo for the past seven years, launched talks on Kosovo's final status in February aiming to complete them by the end of this year

Lavrov said Russia backed U.N. mediator Martti Ahtisaari's effort to draw up a plan for Kosovo's future "as a proposal maybe which could be submitted to a party with a view to future talks ... but not necessarily as (an) ultimatum on any party."
Diplomatic sources say Ahtisaari proposes Kosovo should have the right to join world bodies normally reserved for sovereign states without using the word "independence". States would be able to recognise it and it could apply for a U.N. seat.
After saying countries which recognised an independent Kosovo would suffer consequences in their relations with Serbia, Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav said not only his coalition but "every future Serbian government" would refuse to accept it.

I have read your posts Hoplite...and, in my opinion, often times you are correct.
The problem that you have Hoplite is your attitude. You can be right (or correct) about something...but what people will object to is the manner in which you attempt to describe your arguments.
I hope this is clear.
I'm sorry - I don't feel a need to be nice to folks who either knowingly lie or are too stupid to understand the demonstrated error of their positions.

ZAGREB -- A decision on Kosovo's bid for independence could be delayed until next year, the UN Secretary-General said.
Kofi Annan made the comments in an interview with the Croatian daily Vjesnik, in which he spoke of his talks with the U.N. special envoy on Kosovo, Martti Ahtisaari, about Serbia's October constitutional referendum.
"Considering the referendum, and the fact that they want elections in Serbia, we have to be cautious. Ahtisaari also has to be cautious so that the issue of the final status of Kosovo is not used for pre-electoral purposes," Annan told the paper.
"A proposal on Kosovo must be presented at a right time, that's the key. So we may not stick to the deadlines we had originally planned."
The Contact Group on Kosovo -- comprising the United States, Russia, France, Britain, Germany and Italy -- has insisted its aim is to resolve the issue by the end of this year, although Russia says it should not be bound by "artificial deadlines".

he follows the official line, Dept of State, Hague, NATO, Clark, clinton, etc.....which we know are made of fabrications, exaggerations and selected falsehoods. Therefore, most of his assertions are omitting facts or relying solely on the official version which Peter Brock has already exposed......
And if they don't lack the knowledge - as providing it is a part of the process of demonstrating the error of their position to them, what then?
Perhaps, just perhaps, I meant exactly what I said.
