12 SMARTCARDS GO MISSING IN TENNESSEE; CONTROL ELECTRONIC VOTING MACHINES
Fri Nov 03 2006 10:09:31 ET

Political insiders have expressed alarm after 12 voter smartcards have gone missing from one Shelby County, TN early vote location!

The cards are used to activate electronic voting machine.

The location at the center of the controversy is Bishop Byrne High School on E. Shelby Drive in Memphis.

The polling place started out with 25 cards. By Wednesday, 11 were missing, says an eyewitness.

The location was given 5 more smartcards on Thursday.

And another card went missing!

As of Friday morning, a total of 12 smartcards had gone missing, out of the 30 give to the location.

Someone possessing a smartcard could use 'off the shelf equipment' [equipment that reprograms the card] and alter it to be used multiple times, and cast multiple votes.

One concerned insider explains: "Shelby County Board of Elections has been notified. They said is was 'not a big deal' because, they said, the cards are deactivated. But the reality is, you can buy the equipment at computer stores to reactivate them. It's on the Internet how to reactivate the cards!"

Meanwhile, The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is reviewing reports by the Shelby County Election Commission that two people voted twice during early voting in Memphis.

Dist. Atty. Gen. Bill Gibbons said he's referred the cases to the TBI for investigation along with other matters he declined to discuss.

Poll watchers are expected to turn out Tuesday to observe voting in Tennessee's heated U.S. Senate race between Chattanooga Republican Bob Corker and Memphis Democrat Harold Ford Jr.

Memphis seems to be stuck in some kind of 60's gridlock concerning racial division. After moving away 14 years ago I notice that nothing has changed when I return for a visit. You turn on the local news and it's like you never left. The race card is tossed out daily and then folks just bicker.

My bet: a couple of high-school-aged hacker-wannabes inspired by a lefty moonbat teacher to try to "save" the election for the Democrats. Someone should go check the browser cache in the school computer lab for Google searches on "smart card hacking", "Moveon.org", etc....

Nobody in that area of Memphis is smart enough to pull that off.

But if they gave the cards to a Soros group?

This is just what I would expect. Do ya think the Dems are behind it. Geez, they are a sorry lot.

The location is in a very black / democrat section of Memphis, between Elvis Presley Drive and the airport.

Definitely a site controlled by the Dhimmicrats.  But then, the counties in Florida where the "bigoted" butterfly ballot that disenfranchised voters and all of the other precincts with problems were 100% controlled by dhims and they still blamed Bush.

I'm with those that think this is being done to set up charges of voter fraud for a chllenge when Harold loses.

It's a shame that voter cards and picture id's are not being used to prevent multiple and fraudelent vote casting in elections... Oh wait in my county in Florida you must present a picture ID and a voter registration card to vote.... dimwits....

We can guarantee the reason the cards went missing is because they off the shelf machines are already in possession.

(reminds me of the old days when they would have the first person steal the paper ballot and take it to the bosses,

you then fill it out and hand it to your stooge,

the stooge then takes the paper ballot to the voting station,

pretends to vote,

and drops in the filled in ballot and steals the new blank ballot,

the blank ballot is given to the bosses in exchange for money [or permission to continue living],

the process repeats)

With these blank cards you can electronically do the above. All you need is a seperate diebod machine. Can the cards be preprogramed to enter the right votes?

Western - metro Memphis area. Don't get upset, the fact that we caught it already tells us that people are watching the polls. There may be LESS opportunity for fraud then previously believed. It should be noted to FR regulars that Ford will likely CARRY West TN by substantial numbers regardless of any fraud issues; the middle/semi-metro is the swing, and here in the east, its pretty red....

I believe you, but its a damn shame that we can't just have an election anymore. Geez, we have all become so accepting of this crap.

Nobody in that area of Memphis is smart enough to pull that off.

Exactly. If it's not just a simple temporary misplacement of the cards, then it suggests a rather ham-handed approach to doing something mischievous. I think it quite possible that a couple of "yutes" could THINK they were smart enough to pull something off - with absolutely no real chance of success.

12 or 13, something like that. As soon as Ford began to slip in the polls I was expecting something like this. Either they accuse the pubbies of suppressing votes, which probably can't work in Memphis anymore, or the 'evil republican' voting machines are cheating poor Junior.
