"No they are not."
Yes, they are. I know because I am one. I vote 95% Conservative and the one issue that I don't, I am labeled a Liberal by Conservatives, therefore I am a Marxist?
Fact is, globalists who search for that egalitarian society are different then someone who doesn't give a squat whether gays marry.

Gay marriage is, I agree, not a Marxist issue, though most Marxists are on the the side of gay marriage. But the converse is not true, I agree. (I'm in favor of gay monogamy too, and I'll punch anyone who calls me a liberal or a Marxist in the mouth.)
Your "conservative" friends who label you a liberal because of your libertarian stance on gay marriage are guilty of sloppy phrasing.
In the case of Lieberman, who is an avatar of the Third Way movement, there is no doubt he is a socialist. Just consider his fellow traveler Tony Blair. Now, no one is more grateful than I am for Blair's steadfastness in the War on Terror. But the man is not just a leading exponent of Third Way, he is a socialist, in fact a Vice President of the Presidium of Socialist International. Anyone who touts "Third Way" or "progressive" as their philosophy is a socialist, plain and simple. That would include Bill and Hillary Clinton... and Lieberman.
