There are several ways to deconstruct it:

1. Grammatically in English
2. Grammatically in Greek
3. Contextually in the scope of Timothy
4. Contextually in the scope of the NT
5. Extra-biblically -- historically
6. Extra-biblically -- ahistorically

I'm sure there are more.
