The president of the U.S. National Association of Evangelicals, who has had regular talks with the White House and vocally opposes gay marriage, resigned on Thursday after being accused of having a sexual relationship with a male escort.
Ted Haggard, who denied the accusation, also temporarily stepped down as senior pastor of the New Life Church in Colorado Springs, the church said in a statement....

He is giving up awfully easy if he is innocent.
I can understand being asked to step down from leadership positions, but to resign...not if I was innocent. Nope.
I am willing to bet he at least did some gay things and resigned to quiet the hubub.
LOL!!!!! Amen sister!
This sounds like a setup, just like the Foley deal. I wouldn't be surprised if Soros wasn't behind it. Get some prominent conservatives on the hook by taking advantage of a moment of personal weakness, and spring the surprise just before the election.
Leave it to you, to rush to post this. The story has already been posted on another thread.
BINGO, AND BY THE TIME IT COMES OUT THAT IT'S BOGUS THE ELECTIONS WILL BE OVER. THIS KIND OF REMONDS ME OF THE SMEAR TACTIC OF THAT POLITIAN IN VEGAS. QUIET REMARKABLE ESPECIALLY THE TIMING.
SMELLS LIKE THE DIRTY RAT MEDIA TO ME....
Well he resigned from his office.
He might go to jail for buying drugs.
What else do you wanna do? Flog him?
Will the accuser be prosecuted for soliciting prostitution or selling drugs?
Not from me. Just condemnation for this HOMO! And I DON"T CARE if he is Catholic or Protestant. So there.
On KNTV's News @ 11pm tonight, Co-anchor Lisa Kim, apropos of nothing, said that Haggard was "a strong supporter of President Bush and against same-sex marriage." A same-sex marriage opponent being accused of seeking gay hustlers is notable, but I fail to comprehend what his support of Bush has to do with anything.
6:00 abc radio - "he has admitted to some of the charges."
"I just know that there has been some admission of indiscretion, not admission to all of the material that has been discussed but there is an admission of some guilt," Parsley told the station.
I don't know who Haggard is, and the NAE has turned to the left recently. I do have compelling evidence.
In any case, the turn to homosexuality has been denied. Therefore, the guy deserves the benefit of the doubt. His action of resigning until this is sorted out is probably the right answer unless it encourages false accusations that simply seek to injure ministers and ministries.
Recognizing the vulnerability of elders, the bible says that no charge against an elder should be entertained except when there are TWO witnesses.
But is it really tiny?
We need to make sure that priests/ministers/reverends actually ask Jesus into their lives before they take the job.I don`t think that`s asking to much!
We need to give this fellow the benefit of the doubt. We also need to remember that we are all sinners. If it turns out to be true it does not change the fact that homosexuality is a sin against God/Jesus.
On the news this morning, this minister stated that he has a wife and 5 children, stated he never had any sexual relationship with this man and has never taken drugs.....we will need to step back and see where the evidence stands....undoubtedly, there is a "war" on Christianity and leaders of the church, not only with radical muslims, but with liberals in the democrat party....we'll just have to wait and see how this plays out.....you know what the democrats are going to do...they will try to define "christians" as hypocrites.
If the admissions included any kind of homosexual conduct, it's all over.
