Hello, Names Ash Housewares:
And in September the Navy retired the F-14 several years ahead of schedule. What I wouldn't have given to get shot off a carrier in a Tomcat, but that chance is gone (as if there was much of a chance anyway).

One of the main things that caused the retirement of the F-14 was all of the tools and dies needed to make certain parts were destroyed under the orders of the Sec. of Defense Richard Cheney.

What I wouldn't have given to get shot off a carrier in a Tomcat, but that chance is gone (as if there was much of a chance anyway). My roommate at the navy Department Head School was an F-14 back seater. I ran across him during a Med cruise a couple year later and he got me onto an S-3 for a cat shot and an arrested landing. Not quite the same thing but quite a rush all the same.
