Here is one of the websites we looked at in Biology class this year.

It provides a number of theories-some hormonal, some possibly genetic, and some sociological. The large amount of theories leads me to believe there is much to learn..

You presented a theory as a given, which gives quite a different impression. Perhaps philosophy (pop or classic) would be helpful. We try to link so much to the genetic factor that it almost flies in the face of the fact that much of life is a combo of nature and nurture, not one of the other.

There are theories that we are all capable of extreme evil, given the right situation. That is something that makes a lot of sense, and doesn't take free will/individual choice (hence responsibility) out of the equation.

One issue I have with the neurological approach (in terms of hormones, for instance) is that there may not be true causality present. Are the hormones present due to the actions and thoughts/beliefs (i.e. caused by them), or do the hormones cause the actions or beliefs? Looking at what we we find from treating depression, I think it's an open question.
