Dear Seattle PI:

"Indeed, the military sells itself as a place to garner skills and to help pay for higher education."
The above is true, but it is the opposite of what Kerry said. Kerry stated that you will end up in the military if you flunk out. The truth is that starting in the military is what helps you succeed.

There are lies, damn lies, and statistics. And then there is the dinosaur media, which goes beyond all of that.

Which, when you think about it, might explain a lot about Big John.

I am pleased to say that I convinced my largely apolitical family to discontinue their PI subscription close to 20 years ago. This rag has been rapidly losing circulation for a very long time. They have resorted to throwing unsolicited copies of their catbox liner into my yard occasionally, and I keep phoning them to stop it because I view their actions as littering. No success yet but I'll keep trying.

Kerry wasn't saying -- regardless of the Republican spin -- that our troops are stupid. He did say, by the rules of logic, that those ""stuck" in Iraq are there because they did not "make the most of it and ... study hard and ... do ... homework, and ... make an effort to be smart." If he didn't say our troops are stupid then he said that they are lazy, at least in the area of learning.
In any case it was an insult from an arrogant pretender.

Editorials like this is evidence of the deep disconnect between the Drive By Media and the American mainstream. Their contempt for the most admired of American institutions and for American values just shouts out to their readers. My guess is the reaction Tuesday is going to be a tsunami and the clueless Lefty dolts in the Drive Bys won't see it coming.

Really this is a pretty prudent move on the P-I's part. By defending Ketchup Boy on both sides of the issue, the P-I won't have to retract their statement when the inevitable flip-flop occurs.

"Kerry's intended point was obvious."
Even if one accepts Kerry's spin that his comments were a misspoken joke about Bush, it is ludicrous to claim that his real intent was "obvious." This is just one more example of why I cancelled my subscription to the P.O.S. P.I. tenyears ago.

NASA Hired To Repair Kerry Joke Houston, TX NASA Administrators will neither confirm nor deny ongoing negotiations with the Democratic National Committee exploring possible repair solutions to John Kerry's severely damaged joke, which was apparently disastrously disfigured upon entry into Earth's atmosphere yesterday. Top NASA engineers, however, have been seen at Houston's airport enroute to Washington with luggage containing duct tape, bailing wire and over 10 pounds of Bazooka-brand bubble gum. Scribblings on a napkin left at the airport and found by this reporter provide a clue as to the direction of thinking...
