Holy cow, you MUST WATCH THIS!!!!! Click here.
This one is gonna leave a mark...may be the single best ad of the year. God bless Rick Santorum.
No I did not, that thread wasn't active on Sunday.
OK, I don't disagree with that. I also thought he could have named one or two of the worst companies in question.
Yep, Sunday at midnight... If the GOP maintains both the Senate and House, I'll be in such a good mood, I'll provide 2nd ($300) and 3rd ($200) prize awards as well.
You've still got time. The first 200 predictions, or Sunday night, whichever comes first.
I'm with you - I've seen better and seen worse. I like your ad better, and I love that ad pulling the plug on the terrorist wiretap.
This one left me cold, which makes me wonder what the booster club for the ad is thinking?
Maybe I'm wrong and it's a fantastic ad.
WooHoo,Thanks NYC Republican. Now if only I could count.:)
BUMP!!!
Nancee
I agree with you. Admittedly it's difficult to convey this convincingly in a few seconds.
Predictions?
I predict recounts, lawsuits, and accusations galore. I predict we won't know who controls either house for at least a month.
Do the contest HitmanLV,you could win 500 bucks and have us down for dinner.
Yep, I haven't found that very generous predictions about the 2006 election to be particularly credible and I have said so. I call em like I see them, even if it means the GOPer sucks, or the GOPer dropped the ball, or whatever.
And yes, I do think this ad is most likely the act of a very desperate candidate who is far behind. That doesn't mean I don't like Santorum, nor that I am not rooting for him. I do like him, and I am rooting for him.
I think being clear and honest about our candidates and our chances is a good thing, regardless of how troublesome you find it.
Hahaha ok, I shall! I entered Steyn's contest, also!
The ad also sends a message that Bob Casey has been too busy running for Senator to pay any attention to his actual job -- the biggest part of which is determining how state pension funds are invested. Several other states have divested their pension funds from these companies (mostly Chinese companies), but Pennsylvania hasn't. It's a very legitimate issue because Casey has refused to say a word about anything he has done as state Treasurer.
As for that Citizens United ad, please. Talk about a desperation ad. I'm sure voters will really be moved by a shrill ad featuring pictures of the destroyed World Trade Center (exploits the 9/11 victims) and saying Democrats want to help terrorists attack America. A better ad on this theme would start out reminding people that the U.S. has NOT been attacked since 9/11, thanks to policies and programs that Democrats want to stop.
By the way, I am a 30-year veteran of campaigns from President all the way down to state legislature. I have written ad copy and press releases, and seen thousands of political ads. I think this one is good. I appreciate those who disagree. I also think it's exactly the kind of ad you hold until the last week of the campaign so that you hopefully turn it into a free-media story about your opponent, put him on the defensive, and get him off message at the end.
This ad, like almost all others I've this season, speak to me thusly: "My opponent is a big poopy pants".
I don't tend to believe that political ads are designed to appeal to thinking human beings, rather aimed at the lowest common denominator, regardless of party.
OK I just did it.I think Santorum will win and that's what I put.If you win I stay at the MJM Grand and get to meet all your star friends:)
All of that is fine, but what does any of that have to do with whether this Santorum ad is a particularly convincing and credible ad?
I like that decoder ring you are using!
Hey, my winnings won't be able to cover that! Maybe a round of drinks at an MGM Grand Lounge! Haha! ;-)
